About us

The Army Amenities Fund (AAF) Company is the Trustee of Army Amenities Fund and Messes Trust Fund.

The Company is a not-for-profit organisation and was incorporated in the early 1980s.

The objectives of the AAF Company are to provide amenities to enhance the wellbeing of soldiers in the Australian Army. This is achieved through a variety of means including holiday accommodation, and grants and loans for worthwhile projects.

Governance

The AAF Company operates within the Defence Portfolio and reports to the Minister for Defence Personnel.

Our Board appointments

Our Directors are designated officers appointed either by the Chief of Army and by Board invite.

Our organisational structure

The AAF Company is managed by a Board of Directors.

Office Bearers (including Chair) are appointed by the Chief of Army. Other members are invited to become Board members.

The Board manages the affairs of the business entity in accordance with its Constitution and relevant legislation.

The Board is supported by the Secretariat (three Defence APS staff, one of whom is appointed as Company Secretary).

Accountability

The AAF Company governance framework defines roles, responsibilities and accountability, as well as mechanisms to manage and monitor progress and performance.
